A Recipient Story

A letter from one of the Stephen Petty Memorial Fund’s many recipients.

I just want to thank you so very much for all you have done to make the quality of life for me as comfortable as possible.

As you know, I am living with a disease that requires a bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and a year of recovery.

Given the fact that I am a dancer, this treatment is devastating to me. I try to live my life as stress free as possible so I will not succumb to the harsh treatments.

I had to resign from the stress of teaching full-time, and rely on work as a substitute. There is no pay for holidays and summer months, nor any benefits to supplement a meager substitute teacher's salary.

I now rely on outside sources for help such as food stamps and the Stephen Petty Fund to help with my basic living expenses.

Because of your fund, I am able to live a more normal and stress free life without worrying so much about finances.

Thanks for all that you do in the name of the arts and for the artists of Atlanta. You will never know just how much you and the Stephen Petty Fund have helped me.
